The Pics

Here is Ben and Katelynn on Father's Day.

Katelynn today, wearing a shirt that said I can't wear pink everyday. Thanks Carla.

Another pic of her showing off her double chin that came in last week.

Appt updates

So last Monday we too Katelynn to her 1 month appt and I was hoping that she was 9lbs. Well she surprised me by being 10lbs and 11oz. I asked the Dr about her acne and the skin fold rubbing on her neck. I can get so gross and smelly there. I try to keep it clean but it still stinks. Shes get pretty stuffy too so I asked about that and he said it was the air and nothing should be done now about it. I do get some huge buggers though. So she is doing well.
Ben had his surgery on Tuesday and is recovering well from that. He has another 4 and a half weeks off.
Friday we went to get Katelynn's hearing checked and it passed in 90 seconds and the appt was over. That was the quickest appt ever.
Yesterday Ben and I went to the outlets and got some clothes for Katelynn for 6 months and up. Ben loved this green dress that she is not too big for and he saw it on the clearance rack for 3.99 and asked what size to get it in. He was really cute about it. I was able to find a dress that I just love and am so excited about. It is hard to wear a dress when nursing though. We went and saw The Proposal. It was cute but of course there were scenes that were unnecessary.
Overall though things are pretty good. Just trying to get used to being a mom and learning what she wants and when. I am trying to figure out her nap schedule and when she'll sleep for more than 5 min. Sometimes she'll do good and then sometimes I can't get out of the room and she is crying. Everyday still seems to be different and am thinking when Ben goes back to work it might get better as far as a schedule goes.
This morning she was so cute. I laid her on the boppy and put some toys above her and she played there for about an hour. And she is wearing a favorite shirt today so I need to get some pics up from fathers day and today. I will work on that and see how far I get.

Talk to you all later.

Thanks Beth and Kevin!!

For weeks and maybe even months on end we have been raiding Beth and Kevin's house every Sunday and eating dinner with them. They are always so gracious to us and feed us great food, well, the hot dogs may not have been "great" food but it was still food. This Sunday was no exception we invited ourselves over, we always ask first, and had some Vegetarian Linguine. It was so good. So, I called over for the recipe yesterday and we had it again and since I need to get the recipe written down I will share it with you too. It is SUPER easy and I even ate all of the vegetables, that is a shocker since I don't easy many vegetables.

Vegetarian Linguine

6 oz Linguine Pasta*
2 Med Zucchini Thinly sliced
2 Green Onions chopped
1 garlic clove minced
2 tbsp butter
Olive Oil*
1 tomato diced
2 tsp fresh Basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4 oz provolone cheese shredded*
3 tbsp Parmesan cheese*

Cook Pasta according to package directions. Combine zucchini, green onion, garlic, butter and oliveoil in large skillet. Saute 3-5 minutes. Add tomato, basil, salt, pepper and pasta. Cover and simmer 3-5 minutes. Add cheeses and serve.

* I used half a box of linguine coated with olive oil and had that bowl of leftovers. I used about 3 or 4 tbsp olive oil to coat the vegetables well. I also used the shredded italian cheese blend. The cheese adds allot of flavor to the pasta so don't forget it. If you want meat with it I had some precooked and cut up chicken wedges added to my plate.

Hope you like it and thanks Beth for the recipe.

P.S. Katelynn now weighs 10lbs and 11oz and 22.5 inches

Doctors

I can't believe how many appts I have this week. Monday is Katelynn's 1 month appt. Tuesday is Ben's Surgery he will be off for 6 weeks to 3 months. My six week check up and a Hair cut for me. Friday Katelynn's hearing exam. She failed the one in the hospital but we know she can hear she has been startled a few times from noises.

So, Ben tore his lateral meniscus like we thought and will have arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday Morning. If they keep it then it will be 3 months of healing if they have to remove it then it is 6 weeks of healing. Ben hopes he can keep it.

My dad is in town and is at the rehab hospital for spinal cord injuries. I went and saw him on Friday and it was a little sad as he couldn't do anything for himself. Hopefully with time things will improve. My mom says he is doing a little more each day even if that little more is twitching his left thumb. It is going to be long and hard for him.

I will talk to you all later and let you know how this week went.

1 month

I know I am a few days late on this but I have wanted to post about Katelynn's first month on the 8th better late than never. She is doing very well that is for sure. We have our next DR appointment on Monday and we will see how much she weighs. I am sure she is in the 9 lb range. She just looks skinny being so tall. We are moving quickly through the size 1 diapers and are looking at returning a box of size 1's I haven't opened yet. She is wearing a 3 month outfit today, I think that some will fit her and many won't of that size. The newborn is getting snugger by the day.
We set up a little floor gym for her and she'll lay under it for about 10 min then gets bored. She is cooing and smiling more and maybe has laughed a couple of times.
There is absolutely no schedule to he right now. Hopefully, we can get that figured out in the next few weeks.
She doesn't mind napping in her pack and play but she doesn't want to stay in there through the night. That might be more my problem than hers. She grunts and groans ALLOT and so I am constantly worried that the next grunt will be the cry while we are sleeping and I can't sleep through that.
Ben and I are both in love though and if she has a good nap will sometimes fight to get to her first, I am winning most of the time right now as he is crippled and hopping with a baby isn't the safest.
I hope all is well. Type at you all later.

P.S. We will know what will happen with Ben's knee tomorrow. My dad will be able to come to a rehab facility in town after all. He will be transported today or tomorrow. We are all very happy that they will be so close and my mom doesn't have to live in a hotel. She checked out today in hopes that she will sleep in her own bed tonight. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers I am sure that is why they will be home soon.

Time flies when you are going crazy

My Dad. he has epilepsy and has had it since he was a kid. He is able to tell when a seizure is coming so as to protect himself. A few years ago he didn't sit down and broke his leg. Last week on Tuesday he fell again and this is his worst EVER!!! He went down hitting his knee first and then hitting his forehead with enough force to fracture his neck. When my mom got to him moments after his was a limp noodle and 911 was called. Wednesday morning he was transferred up to Oakland to have rods and oins placed in his neck. Ben was able to represent the the kids and gave my mom a blessing and was a support until they left in at about 10. Saturday the surgery was done it too 6 and a half hours. My mom has been up with him everyday and has been a super support for everyone. I am so amazed with my mom and how strong she has been through everything. Sarah and Mike went up and saw them on Sunday and Sarah said it wasn't a pretty site, which I thought so. Today he was sat up in bed and was unable to support himself. He still has some swelling so that might be why but there is also some spinal cord damage he has more feeling in his right then in his left side. He is able to tell when someone touches him but was unable to sign for the surgical consent. This is going to be a very long process. He will be in Oakland for a couple more days and then will be tranferred to Valejo for spinal cord rehab. He has been aproved for 100 day of rehab with insurance. I hope that will be enough. The doctors are positive that he can gain most of his movement back since he has feeling now but it will take alot of work. We are hoping to make it up in Wednesday or Thursday. That is what is happening with my dad.

Ben now will be off for a few weeks now, not because of Katelynn though. He probably has a torn miniscus in his left leg. He has an MRI tomorrow and it will be reviewed on Friday with us, hopefully sooner if there is a cancelation. He is on crutches and can't walk on it or straighten his leg. He will probably need to have surgery on it. Yeah, I know, and we have a newborn. I am glad that I have a few weeks off to take care of them both. That is all for us now I will talk to you all later and update you as everything progresses.

What More

For the past month way too many people have been to the hospital I think it started with me having Katelynn, then RW, then Mary had surgery, Kevin had an accident a week ago and now my Dad is in the hospital and we are all waiting to find out what will happen next for him. I know I am not giving details but it is on the serious side and we hope everything turns out okay. He should be okay but may take a while. All of this was very unexpected, I don't want any more people in the hospital for a while.

Giving this a try

I hope to post this video. We shall see how it works.

I think it worked.
Yesterday she was not happy in the evening and she hates sponge baths but we have found out that she really enjoys a shower. We use her bath tub in the kitchen and use the pull out faucet on spray mode and she could sit there all day. So this was her after her bath.
