This and that and I felt that...

Ben and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary this week. We didn't do anything crazy just had a dinner out without Katelynn and that was very nice. We didn't have to entertain her while trying to eat or wait for the food. She doesn't do so well in sit down places anymore. She wants instant food. Anyways, we went to Teppan Yaki at Tokyo Garden after a friend suggested it and we both really liked it. Ben has been craving the spicy sauce ever since. We have also been thinking when we would be able to go back. It certainly isn't cheap but it is such good food.

After visiting with Beth and Kevin Sunday night and playing with their RC plane Ben was feigning for one so he ordered one through Amazon and it got here yesterday. Katelynn loves to have Ben chase her around with it and when it crashes she will pick it up and put it on the table so it can take off again.

Katelynn has caught on to one of our sayings, "Fetch" We say it when something doesn't go right. So, whenever Ben crashes the plane she says fetch.

Here I am at 16 weeks. I feel like I have grown quite a bit this week. I finally found out when the ultrasound appointment is. This is no Joke, it is next Friday April 1st at 9 am. I am excited to see this avocado and see that everything is going just right.

I have been going back and forth as to whether or not I am able to feel the baby yet. Most of the time it is just my shirt moving against my belly as I am breathing but today I know for sure I felt this baby. It was firmer that just the gentle flutters. Feeling the baby has to be my favorite part of pregnancy. It just makes me so happy and usually calm me down to think about something else besides everything in the world for a moment.

Lastly I went on a diaper binge today. There were a couple of good sales and promos going on that I picked up 9 small packs of diapers for 50% off. Some for Katelynn and some for the baby. I think I have enough diapers to get the baby into size 2. We'll just keep on trucking with Katelynn and see when potty training will start. I was thinking trying well before the baby comes and see how that goes. I am trying to prepare myself mentally for the patience I need for that experience.

Dr's Appt

Today I met with the Nurse Practitioner. Everything went well. I have already gained 8lbs. What is up with that? That is not a good thing. I was hoping to stay around 25 for the weight gain. I know I did that with Katelynn.
We are still trying to find something to help me get complete nasal relief. I don't know if it is going to happen. She gave me a prescription and we shall see it that helps any.
We were also able to hear the Heart Beat. It was in the 160's. It took a few minutes to find, but it was there.
Next up, ultrasound in 3 weeks. Don't have a date yet. When I was there today the scheduler look a little frazzled and was busy with someone else so they'll call me. I hope she feels better, she is always so nice and happy.
That's all for now.

Similarities and Differences

This pregnancy is similar yet different than with Katelynn. Let's start with the similarities. The main one is I don't get morning sickness or nauseated with pregnancies. That is a hard thing to deal with sometimes for me since I am an over thinker. I was talking with the Medical Assistant at my Dr.s office about it and she summed it up most accurately when she said something like this...All you hear about is people being sick when their pregnant and when you aren't, you (or at least I) think there is something wrong and the baby isn't going to make it. There is just this innate thinking that if you are pregnant you are sick and those symptoms make you feel better about the pregnancy.
Then both my sisters were SICK and throwing up all the time, getting dehydrated, taking meds to keep food down the whole nine. Then there is me. I threw up like 3 times with Katelynn and once this time. I asked my mom about it with Katelynn and she turned to me and said, "I don't know your sisters are doing, but I was never sick with you guys." That did make me feel better.
Of course I have been tired, but it is different this time since Katelynn is running around and I have to keep up with her. Last time I laid around all day, took naps, and was a lazy bum. I have definitely been lazy, but only to the extent that a 2 year old will let me be. I usually am taking naps during her nap time. I am glad that I work so little because when it gets to 1:30 I am really looking for a pillow. Those are long days.
For the differences, I have been congested for the past two months. This "rhinitis of Pregnancy" sucks. I can't remember the last time that I was able to breathe out of my nose. Last weekend was the ABSOLUTE worst. I woke up I don't know how many times sneezing coughing blowing my nose, going to the bathroom (urinary frequency is still the same LOL), Drinking water since my throat was dry from breathing out my mouth, not being able to drink well because my nose was so blocked up and then throwing up at 4 in the morning all over my comforter because I had gagged on the water I had just drank. It was GREAT! Then I took a shower at 4, to one get the barf off me and two to try and drain my nose. I was a wreck. So, I think all of that was a mixture of Allergies, pregnancy and an infection that my OB gave me antibiotics for. I feel alot better now but I am still stuffed up and can't breathe out my nose.
Lastly, I have needed my maternity clothes since nine weeks. Mainly the pants, but I wear some shirts since the are longer and cover the maternity band. I hate having that show.
I think everything is going okay. I have an appointment on Monday and we should finally hear the heartbeat. I can't complain though, I have seen the baby four times. It has just been a long four weeks waiting, since I over think everything and worry too much.
Me on 2/21 at 12 weeks. I don't know what happened, I swear I don't even look that big now.

The Zoo

Yesterday we went to the zoo with some friends from church. We met there at nine and we stayed there until 11. This is our second trip to the zoo, we went a year ago and all Katelynn did was sit in her stroller sucking on her binki. So, I knew this trip would be different. The Hippo saved the day again.

The Elephants

The Monkey's

The Giraffe's

Seal's

Flamingo's

Mo and Katelynn having an important conversation about the bark.

After this there was a total and complete meltdown. She was done. We had pretty much finished seeing all that was there so it was good. She had a good time checking out all the animals.

Inspired by Ammy

Today's is Ammy's Birthday. Happy Birthday Ammy. A few days ago I was catching up on Ammy's blog and she had a picture of Joesy's hair shaped as a heart and I thought that I might be able to do that with Katelynn's hair. So, I stumbled upon a website that had a few more picture angles of the hair do and so the next day (yesterday) I gave it a try in her hair.

Here's the best picture I have of her hair. She doesn't stand still very well.

Here's some better pics and tutorial on how to do it.

I hope that you have a very splendid birthday Ammy!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Almost a month ago now we took a trip over to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We haven't been on any type of trip for a while so I thought it would be something simple and fun for us to do and it was.
We had just got the Yukon a few days before so we were excited to see how the trip would be. Ben had Friday and Monday off since it was President's Day. We drove up Friday after lunch (since that is Katelynn's naptime). She slept almost the entire drive. When she woke up she watched an Elmo movie and was content til we arrived at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. for dinner. It was delicious and hit the spot.
We had a nice little hotel where we stayed the night and had our own version of WWE with Katelynn as the Champion Wrestler. Here were the problems 1)Sleeping in a different bed 2) Sleeping with Mom and Dad 3) There is no bed big enough for the 3 of us. We laid down to go to bed at 9pm, but she didn't fall asleep until almost 11. I rocked her, I sung to her, then I drugged her with Benadryl and Ben turned on a boring cop show that knocked her out. Then the rest of the night we had her rolling around between us. Her head wedged against Ben and her feet in me face. Sleeping was great!
We went to the Aquarium for just the morning. She walked the entire time for 2 1/2 hours. She didn't have any tantrums or meltdowns. I think that she liked seeing all the fish. Her favorite part was playing in the water. She didn't really touch the fish she just played in the water. We saw all the fish and played in all the play areas and had a good time.
We left at lunchtime and she slept the entire way home. We definitely enjoyed driving in the Yukon. It was so much more comfortable. We all had enough room and no one was squished or uncomfortable.
It was a really nice little trip and we had a good time together.

Checking out the Fish

The ducks say "Quack, Quack"

She did touch a star fish here.

Pink Flamingos

The Tropical Fish

Her Favorite Place

The penguins with daddy

See, I was there!

By the way, the Hippo Back Pack leash saved our trip. As soon as we were inside the aquarium she wanted nothing to do with the stroller and she walked everywhere until the end when we went to the gift shop she sat in it and didn't fight one bit about sitting down again.
